Kim Jun Ho has released a statement addressing the KBS report released last night that showed new chat logs of him, Cha Tae Hyun and Jung Joon Young discussing illegal golf gambling/betting.
The issue became controversial because gambling is illegal in South Korea.
On March 17, Cha Tae Hyun released an official apology announcing his departure from all of his current shows, Kim Jun Ho followed suit with a similar statement addressing the report.
Through his agency JDB Entertainment he released an official statement apologizing for the controversy. Here is what he said:
“Hello. This is comedian Kim Joon Ho.
First of all, I would like to apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment I caused to many people.
In contrast to yesterday’s report on betting golf, I never played golf with my colleagues in 2016. And it was just the part of the game to make it more entertaining; we returned money to his original owner afterwards at the site when the game was over.
As a public figure, I have been deeply reflecting on the fact that I have not set a good example as the big brother of ‘2 Days & 1 Night.’ I have decided to step down from all my programs, as I feel responsible for this issue.
Also, I hope there are no more misunderstandings or false reports about my younger colleagues who are working hard for their broadcasts.
I will work harder to become a more responsible person in the future. Once again, I am deeply sorry to have caused concern to many people.
With his announcement, KBS “Gag Concert” also stated he’s will be edited out of today’s broadcast. A source from tvN’s “Seoulmate 2” which was scheduled to end on March 25 announced he would be edited out of the remaining two episodes as well.
Meanwhile, “2 Days & 1 Night” stated they would be releasing an official statement on March 18 KST to address the current issues surrounding two other members of the program.
Netizens were furious with what they think is a tiny matter to be blown out of proportions, they believe Cha Tae Hyun and Kim Jun Ho are being used as a distraction to cover bigger issues happening right now in South Korea.
What do you think of this?
