Seems like Yang Hyun Suk was browsing the web (apparently) and came across a comment that was triggering enough he had to respond to it in an instagram post, the head of YG Entertainment himself just did this!

On February 13, Yang Hyun Suk posted a screenshot of a comment by a netizen, the comment translates to,

“You should’ve lived quietly like Seo Taiji . Were you boy 1 or 2 in Seo Taiji and boys? I am suddenly curious?”

Yang Hyun Suk captured that comment and then wrote a reply in a photo to it, he wrote,

“You were only a former dancer… one of the boys.. you only became successful because of this.. or this… I have come across such comments for the past 23 years.

I don’t think you were born during that generation but being a member of the boys was an incredible honor to me, and Seo Taiji and Boys were a pretty good group.

I will live humbly and properly.

Thank you.”

He also captioned in the photo,

“I will live humbly and properly.”

For those who aren’t aware, Yang Hyun Suk used to be a backup dancer in the legendary Kpop group “Seo Taiji and boys” from 1992 to 1996. The group is the biggest name in all of Kpop and the group that gave way for Kpop to become what it is today, it helped break down walls for the first generation of Kpop groups to follow.

After Seo Taiji and boys retired, Yang Hyun Suk opened YG Entertainment.

If you want to understand more about Seo Taiji and boys and how they influenced the musical scene in South Korea, it is a good idea to watch this video below:

My Thoughts

First things first, why so triggered YG?

I know that we’re all human and comments do hurt us sometimes, but to see someone of his caliber replying to a comment like that (specifically on this subject), which isn’t even anything too grand, is just… I don’t know… useless?

Its not a hate comment but a remark and it must’ve really pressed him enough to screenshot the comment, then add his comment to a picture on an app then upload it to Instagram then re-type the same last caption… just to… what is he exactly trying to do? What is he trying to prove with this comment? I am not being sarcastic guys, I just don’t get it….

Imma be honest! Yang Hyun Suk strikes me as the type of person who enjoys the spotlight, I can clearly tell. This is kinda weird because most entertainment CEOs or founders really don’t give sh*t about TV appearances unless it was every once and a while. Yang Hyun Suk is a different case… at least this is who he comes across to me.

There is no ‘humility/humbleness’ in the sentences he wrote and it just… I don’t know…. it doesn’t feel right.

I would highly recommend you guys watch the video above about the group so you understand why this group is such a big deal that inspired what we know of Kpop today.

As a by-product, you might understand why Yang Hyun Suk felt triggered by this comment enough to write a reply. He basically was just a backup dancer and all the spotlight was on Seo Taiji.

I mean if he had replied to a comment messing with his family/groups/reputation or anything that is defamatory/malicious, I would totally understand but this... this comment… idk, guys!
