My Thoughts

I have recapped the show live as it was going on and it was fun, but it could’ve been better!

I don’t know if this is the fall back from AAA 2018 but the performers’ lineup felt empty. Now before you jump up my throat I am not going to be that fan who says ‘no (agency) idols performing, not gonna watch.’ It just felt like there needed to be more artists present at the show.

This is the first year I pay so much attention to award shows and I am noticing that only those who come will receive awards, its like an attendance award. It wasn’t hard for me to guess who was going to win what when I saw the lineup and that’s kinda sad.

Some artists might desperately want to be there having fun but they can’t because of previous commitments but giving that award to someone who doesn’t deserve it as much just because they showed up isn’t right either. this is not to say all those who received an award tonight didn’t deserve it, but sometimes, it happens, a group highly deserving of an award doesn’t get it and miraculously the group nominated in that category who attended goes home with it.

I am going to talk about what I am personally disappointed with but heads up, this doesn’t mean the person who took the award didn’t deserve it, they all worked hard but the quality of work and my personal preference determines my judgment in the end.

I was disappointed because Day6 didn’t win the Best Rock Award, they have a good dedicated fanbase and amazing songs, I still don’t why they’re not favored in awards shows even when they release songs more than once a year and they do so well, not to mention the rave reviews they get from not only Korean news outlets but international outlets with each comeback.

What I understand with the award name of ‘Best Dance Female/male’ is the quality and difficulty of the choreography more than the popularity of the song. I know the song shouldn’t be separated from the dance a lot but I did feel that both winners of this award should have been other groups because other groups dance routines were a lot better (in my opinion) than those who won.

I don’t understand where the ‘Best Record Of The Year’ came from because I was legit confused watching the show and finding out there is another daesang and its that name. What is the difference between ‘Best Record Of The Year’ or ‘Best Album Of The Year’? I can’t honestly tell either apart….

The show was fun but I just wished that we had more artists performing because it seemed like such a concentrated event. It did give the chance for some groups to shine so brightly and I was happy about that but there was this feeling of… emptiness… it just felt that there had to be something else missing… idk!
