Its award season and its gonna get heated!
On November 1, the 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards announced the list of nominees and the winning criteria for major awards.
The awards show will start off at Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Korea on December 10 and then continue to Japan at Saitama Super Arena on December 12. The finale on December 14 will once again be in Hong Kong at AsiaWorld-Expo Arena.
For a group or a soloist to receive a nomination, their songs/albums must be released within the period of October 18, 2017 to October 31, 2018.
While reading the nomination list, YG fans (specifically iKON fans) noticed iKON missing from some awards categories and they couldn’t believe it.
iKON wasn’t nominated for Artist of the Year or Best Male Group which didn’t sit well with the fandom or other Kpop fans as well.
Even people who didn’t particularly stan iKON pointed out that its very weird that iKON hadn’t been nominated in those two important categories despite leading such a successful year, 2018 is their best so far.
Here are some of the fans’ comments and reactions:
“iKON really deserves recognition for their success with “Love Scenario” … but it’s MAMA we’re talking about so I don’t have high hopes.”
“Are u f*king serious no iKON IN best dance in Male Group, in Best Male Group, In Artist of the Year, Best Music Video…”
“I don’t expect they’ll let iKON win any awards. tsk tsk”
“should not have nominated iKON at all, when you are not gonna give them anything.”
What do you think of this?
