Esquire magazine has published a story to its Instagram account about a foundation called “Shinin’ Foundation,’ the foundation was formed by SHINee member Jonghyun’s mother who established it to help those in performing arts.
The foundation aims to raise awareness and bring more light towards issues artists suffer from. They posted a snippet of the story to their Instagram account, it reads,
“’In my pained eyes, I still see many young people in so much pain right now.’ said Lee Eun Kyung, the founder of the foundation carefully shared her thoughts. Director Lee Eun Kyung is SHINee’s Jonghyun mother, who left the world on December 18, 2017.
It is a small foundation that the family of Kim Jonghyun gathered strength to establish together. On September 6, a small opening ceremony was held for the family at Chungdam-Dong, Seoul.
It is a foundation created by a mother who lost her son, who she believed would keep moving forward towards the light to be true to his group name SHINee, Shinin’ wanted to touch the shadow of young cultural artists who are having difficulty walking down the same path.
‘We plan on helping young artists who are having difficulty because they are not backed by an agency. We’re going to undertake a scholarship project together with performing arts high schools to create more opportunities.
Above all, the main the main objective is to establish a psychological counseling center that can appease the souls of young artists who suffered scars from being public figures.’
They’re also planning on holding an arts festival every December to celebrate and remember Jonghyun.
Lee Eun Kyung director said, ‘It still hurts when I hear my son’s voice flow somewhere. But even though my son has left, there are those who like Jonghyun’s music and I am always thankful for that.’ Even after Jonghyun left this world, his music remains. The shiny light will be operated based on the loyalties collected from Jonghyun’s music.
We still remember SHINee’s Jonghyun, who still shines so bright.”
The name Shinin’ is Jonghyun’s title track of the last album he recorded before he died. The songs of his last album “Poet” were composed and written by him.
We miss you Jonghyun!
