Fans are shocked after a report by Korea news outlet Sports Chosun was published.
On September 23, Sports Chosun reported that the former I.O.I member Jeon Somi has signed a contract with YG Entertainment Sub Label The Black Label which is managed by legendary YG producer Teddy.
Jeon Somi left JYP Entertainment suddenly a month ago, she was supposed to debut in JYP’s upcoming girl group. Upon announcement of her departure, JYP confirmed they were still working on their new girl group and that the girl group would debut soon.
Fans have been wondering what Jeon Somi next move will be. It has been reported earlier that she plans on going solo for now and her father would be managing her but her father refuted the rumors and said,
“Somi’s activities are her own. They are separate from me. The reports that claimed I will be managing her activities are false.
She had finished her last JYP activities and return from Germany. We’ll be spending this Chuseok holiday together and we’ll discuss her future. I will give her advice as her parent but since I am no expert, there is only much I can do.”
The Black Label is based in an independent space located near the YG Entertainment building, Teddy has been receiving the full support of YG Entertainment to work with trainees and try out various music genres.
If she joins the label, she will be the fourth artist joining Zion.T, rapper Okasian, and Danny Chung.
YG producer Teddy is known for having produced many hit tracks for many YG artists. Fans wonder if the news is true, it probably means that Jeon Somi might debut solo since there are no other girl trainees under the black label as far as we know.
Until now, YG Entertainment hasn’t issued a response, fans are anxiously waiting to see if the news are true or not.
