SM Entertainment and Mnet at war again? Seems like it or at least that’s what some fans believe.

Remember back when YG Entertainment and Mnet butted heads together? YG Entertainment had been displeased with the way their artists were treated. Gdragon even dissed the MAMA awards show (which is hosted by Mnet) a couple of years ago.

It seems like Mnet has more beef with yet another giant, SM Entertainment.

Currently, NCT Dream, Red Velvet, Oh!GG and Super Junior unit D&E are the promoting artists of SM Entertainment. They have all had recently made comebacks and are doing well on Korean music charts.

However, if you take a close look at all of the artists’ schedule for music show performances you will notice that none of them is performing at any Mnet related show including M Countdown.

Not only for the upcoming weeks but at all, none of the groups promoted their newest comebacks at M Countdown.

These signs had fans wondering, is there something going on between SM and Mnet?

Fans were reminded by an incident that occurred between Mnet and SM Entertainment in the past. Back in 2009, they had issues when coming into agreement on music distribution.

Mnet was supposed to distribute SM’s music but the deal didn’t work out, this had reportedly created friction between the two giants. In 2009 and 2010, SM artist didn’t attend the MAMA Awards which was believed to be because of the friction and disagreements.

What do you guys think of this?

  1. Seems like I won’t be watching MAMA this year…
I know there are other agencies and so they have JYP and B*S but honestly? For me it’s not worth the effort waking up early to see only that live. They already have YG not attending.

Also, I didn’t notice RV not attending M Countdown ~
