BTS continues to make history with their newest full length album “Lover Yourself: Tear.”
On May 30 KST, Billboard released this week’s Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart; “Fake Love” took number 10 spot on the Billboard top songs chart the hot 100 for the week ending in June 2.
The Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart ranks the most popular songs in the US across all genres taking into consideration radio airplay audience impressions, sales data, and streaming activity data.
BTS is the first Kpop group to debut in the top 40 of the hot 100, they achieved this huge milestone last December with “MIC Drop” remix, they entered at number 28.
They have beaten their previous record set last December, the only other Korean artist to have achieved such close feat on the Hot 100 chart is PSY. His hit song “Gangnam Style “ it peaked at No. 2 for seven weeks in 2012 and “Gentleman” hit No. 5 in 2013.
PSY’s success was achieved over time while “Fake Love” is the first Korean song to enter at the Hot 100 top 10, breaking the record held by PSY which debuted at No. 12.
Recently, Billboard announced that that BTS’s latest album “Love Yourself: Tear” has entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1 for the week ending in June 2.
Billboard also revealed that “Love Yourself: Tear” is “the first primarily foreign language No. 1 album in over 12 years” on the chart, since it’s performed mostly in Korean.
