Jo Min Ki Handwritten Apology Letter Released Following His Death

Jo Min Ki was found dead in a storage room next to a basement parking garage at around 4 p.m. KST. He was discovered by his wife who called the police after discovering his body.

The actor was under investigation after 20 women came forward with sexual harassment allegations against the actor, who was supposed to be called in for questioning on March 12, but died before being questioned by police.

It was revealed that he wrote a letter of apology on February 26 and delivered it to Dispatch, but his agency decided not to release it and opted for an official statement instead. The letter has been released after his death.

Here is the full letter translated:

“Everything is my sin. My crime!

I was so embarrassed and caught off guard as time passed by and I tried to avoid and deny it, I become more of a coward.

I am ashamed and sorry. During the past seven years, I had no choice but to become a stern professor to my juniors who begun the difficult path to become actors.

In private, I tried to loosen the strictness. I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart to all the juniors who felt humiliated and ashamed in that situation.

I am so sorry and grateful that at least now I can repent of my pride and wrongdoings.

Finally, I apologize to Cheongju University and the students of the theater department who are devoting themselves to their art.”

My Thoughts

The apology is not up for us to accept, but to those who were hurt by his actions. He hurt so many women and that apology is half-assed in my opinion, but its up to the victims to accept it or not.

Reports came out revealing that the student had a manual on how to avoid being alone with the professor and such. I am sad that he died, he should’ve paid for his crimes.

Now, victims will never get the disclosure they were hoping for. It was cowardly of him to do so. I liked him as an actor before all of this. Now all that love and respect is gone.

I feel for his family and hope that the public won’t be too harsh on them. Its not their fault that their father did this. They will have to live with what he did and the backlash for a long time.

Regardless, may his soul rest in peace! My deepest condolences goes out to his family members!

What do you guys think of this apology letter?
