Popular Korean actor Kang Dong Won is making his Hollywood movie debut with a movie to be directed by Simon West, the man behind “Tomb Raider,” “Con Air,” “The Expendables 2,” and many other hit Hollywood movies.
On December 17, Variety magazine confirmed the news stating that Kang Dong Won is taking on the lead role in the upcoming action film “Tsunami LA.” The film tells the story of a monstrous wave that hits Los Angeles.
Director Simon West expressed his excitement about Kang Dong Won’s participation in the movie, he said,
“I am very pleased to be able to show an outstanding actor to the world through this project. I really wanted Gang Dong Won to join us in this film.
We are delighted with this film, which reflects the diversity of Los Angeles, and we are going to complete the casting with talented actors from all over the world, including America, Europe, Australia, China and Brazil.”
While Kang Dong Won commented,
“Everyone in our generation will have a special memory of Simon West’s ‘Con Air.’ I was very curious about the scenario, and it’s a rare opportunity to play such a leading role in a Hollywood debut movie.”
The actor also revealed that he plans on continuing a career in Hollywood if he received a good response for his upcoming movie debut.
The film is planned to be released in 2019.
