Upcoming Korean Dramas Airing In October 2017

The third batch of kdramas will be out any time soon.

There are so many upcoming kdramas that are schedule to air this October throughout November and possibility till the end of 2017.

There are many other great kdramas that will air on SBS, MBC, KBS and cable Korean channels such as tvN, OCN and JTBC.

So today on jazminemedia.com we’re going through the entire list of all the upcoming kdramas this fall, lets begin!

Witch Court

The upcoming KBS thriller is anything but a light.

It tells the story of a materialistic female prosecutor who does not hesitate to use personal attacks, fabricate evidence, and incite perjury in order to win her case is assigned to lead the special task force for sexual assault crimes.

The prosecutor, Ma Yi Deum (to be played by Jung Ryeo Won) has worked as a prosecutor for 7 years. She is known for her knowledge of the law.

Yoon Hyun Min will take on the role of a pediatric psychiatrist who chose the law over medicine and become a rookie prosecutor with an idealistic view of the system.

The drama will air its first episode on October 9 taking over the timeslot of “Girls Generation 1979” each Monday and Tuesday.

This is the first leading role for Yoon Hyun Min since his drama “My Daughter, Gem Sal Wol” back in 2015. The actor has been the successful OCN crime drama “Tunnel” earlier this year.

Fans can’t wait to see what will Yoon Hyun Min and Jung Ryeo Won new drama be like.

Initial Impressions

“Witch Court” is a promising drama. I love Yoon Hyun Min but have never watched a drama lead by Jung Ryeo Won before (its shocking I know!)

The plot is by far one of the most interesting plots on this list. Seems like the lead female will be the annoying one and the lead male will be the naïve one.

I am looking forward to see what will  Yoon Hyun Min project following the huge success of “Tunnel” be. I bet after the success of that drama he had many good offers.

If he chose well, this drama will probably elevate him and his status in the industry. He used to lead dramas but fell back into the second male lead in recent year.

Mad Dog

The other KBS drama overtaking the time slot previously occupied by “Manhole” is “Mad Dog.”

“Mad Dog” tells the story of a former detective who now works as a veteran insurance investigator. He leads a team that attempts to reveal insurance fraud cases.

The detective will be played by the veteran actor Yoo Ji Tae who will share the screen with the upcoming rookie actor Woo Do Hwan.

Joining the cast the talented actors Ryu Hwa Young and Hong Soo Hyun. Together they’ll work as a team to unveil injustice in the dark world of frauds.

Woo Do Hwan has been capturing fans hearts with his amazing acting skills and charm and was recently a part of the religious cult drama “Save Me”.

Fans praised his amazing performance and labelled him as one of the most promising upcoming actors born in 1992.

Initial Impressions

Anything that includes Woo Do Hwan makes me happy.

I love the actor and have noticed how good he was when he was playing very minor roles in some of the kdramas I have seen before.

Yoo Ji Tae is more active in movies rather than dramas, it takes a good script to bring him back to the small screen. I am excited about the plot.

Frauds are a good material to deal with. It gives the drama a serious vibe and sense of urgency and that’s always a plus. I can’t wait to see how well will the two actor mush together.

I am not excited about Ryu Hwa Young joining the cast, mainly because I find her annoying and don’t like her vibe either. Yet she is a good actress.

20th Century boy and girl

“20th Century boy and girl” tells the story of three 35 year old women experiencing love and friendship together.

This drama made headlines for many reasons, this marks Kim Ji Suk first leading role in a while, fans were very happy for him.

He’ll play the role of Ji Won a 35 year old who has been friends with Jin Jin to be played by Han Ye Seul for a very long time; they develop into lovers over the course of the drama.

The drama was set to air on September 25, 2017, taking over “The Kings Love” timeslot.

But it made headlines due to the halted shooting due to the ongoing strike on MBC that calls for its CEO to resign.

The drama cast has filmed about 4 episodes but the drama didn’t air on September 25 due to the filming being halted until the MBC issues are solved.

The drama is set to air its first episode next week, on October 9, 2017.

Initial Impressions

The drama has been delayed enough already, MBC had to stop the production due to the ongoing strike.

I was one of the happy fans when I found out that Kim Ji Suk is taking on the lead role because I just love him as an actor and I think he deserves better.

The drama plot is nothing special, which slightly annoys me. Han Ye Seul’s projects in recent years haven’t lived up to expectations and were rather dull and easily forgettable.

I will watch the drama when it airs next week, I hope that I will be able to find something of value to keep tuning in.

 “Byun Hyuk’s Love”

Kdrama fans are especially excited about his drama.

“Byun Hyuk’s Love” aka. “Revolutionary Love” is the upcoming tvN drama we can’t stop talking about.

“Byun Hyuk’s Love” is Choi Siwon post military comeback drama. The idol-actor has been discharged from the military more than a month ago, and fans were waiting for him to take on a drama.

Shortly after he was discharged he confirmed that he’s indeed coming back with tvN drama “Byun Hyuk’s Love”, Kang So Ra will joined him as the leading lady.

“Byun Hyuk’s Love” talks about Byun Hyuk (played by Siwon) a son from a wealthy family who has no purpose in life, he lives a happy life and is confident around women but is also naïve man with a warm heart. Byun Hyuk decides to live in a poor area hiding his true background.

Kang So Ra will take on the role of Baek Joon a struggling woman who lives in the same neighbourhood, she has a good educational background but has been struggling to find a job so she takes on various part time jobs to support herself, despite her bad condition she is positive and full of justice, her life changes after she meets Byun Hyuk.

The talented Gong Myung is also joining the cast, making this drama his second drama this year following his remarkable appearance in “Bride of the water God”.

The drama will air its first episode on October 14, 2017 taking over the timeslot previously occupied by “Live up to your name”.

The drama will be directed by the hit tvN drama “Another Oh Hae Young” Song Hyun Wook, who also directed “shy Boss”, “marriage not dating” and many others.

Initial Impressions

Probably the drama with the most cliché plot in this list belongs to “Byun Hyuk’s Love.”

I think Siwon is a good actor, he isn’t particularly anything special, he has charisma and can pull in audience with his charm, but in my opinion his acting is not as great as portray it to be.

“Byun Hyuk’s Love” is your typical kdrama. I read the entire plot and I must admit I am not happy with it. Kang So Ra is so talented, why did she pick this project?

A rich guy who gets into a fight with his family, he then hides in a place and conceals the truth of his identity, the girl find out later that he is a chaebol, somehow he is the shining knight.

The second male lead will probably get his heart broken by her. She will obviously fall in love with the first male lead. Been there seen that. I just wished he picked a better project.

I won’t be completely cynical, I will wait and see the drama ad judge for myself, but I gotta admit the plot is highly discouraging.

 Bravo my life

“Bravo my life” tells the story of 3 people who are part of a broadcasting station.

Jung Yoo-Mi will play the leading role of Ha Do Na, joined by Hyun Woo who will play the lead male role of Kim Bum Woo, while Yeon Jeong Hun will take on the second leading role.

The drama is set to air this upcoming October 9, 2017 taking over the slot previously occupied by “Unnie Is Alive”.

Initial Impressions

Not many people are talking about this drama. Not much information is available as well.

I love Yeon Jeong Hun, but I am not sure whether I’ll tune to see his performance in the drama even thou I like him a lot. The drama plot doesn’t seem that interesting.

There is also little advertisement going into it, it’s a weekend drama that’ll air once weekly on Sundays. Its not far away yet little details have been revealed.

Not official posters have been released even thou the drama is less than a week away….

Because Its My First Life

tvN’s upcoming drama “Because Its My First Life” tells the story of a homeless girl named Yoon Ji Ho (to be played by Jung So Min), the girl moves into a new house owned by Nam Se Hee (to be played by Lee Min Ki).

The drama will focus on showing what this generation struggles with and how they survive in life and marriage and relationships in a light tone.

The other two leads will be played by Lee Som and Park Byung Eun, their relationship is a passionate one, they do whatever they please whenever they feel like it.

Kim Ga Eun and Kim Min Suk, will portray the roles of a sweet couple that has been dating for 7 years. The two as if they’re still in honeymoon phase despite their longterm relationship.

Kim Ga Eun will play the role of Yang Ho Rang, Kim Min Suk will play the role of Sim Won Seok, the two didn’t start off on the right foot, Yang Ho Rang initially wanted to get married so she can live a secure life, while Sim Won Seok is your typical engineer.

“Because Its My First Life” will air its first episode n October 9 at 9:30 p.m. KST.

Initial Impressions

I am a huge fan of Lee Min Ki.

I watched a lot of his movies; he does more movies than kdramas. He gives off a strange charming vibe, I like that.

Jung So Min is always adorable. She often picks less serious roles and focuses on romantic comedies, there is nothing wrong with that.

I like that the drama plot won’t focus on the two main leads alone, it’ll include 2 other couples with different problems. I think this adds a great value to the drama, instead of mere typical supporting characters, those characters are used to their full potential.

I am also a fan of Kim Min Suk who has been acting for a while but still seems to be stuck doing secondary roles…. Don’t get me wrong, I am excited about his appearance, but I think he’s worth more than that, don’t you guys agree?

He is talented, good looking and has been a couple of good dramas. He showcased his talent and yet he’s still playing minor roles that don’t give him the screen time he deserves.

Nevertheless, I am still excited about this drama. I will be releasing the recap and review of it next week. I can’t wait to find a new promising adorable drama.

Please don’t screw this up tvN!

“Black” is one of the most anticipated kdramas of OCN this year, back in July kdrama fans were pleased by the cast chosen for this drama.

“Black” tells the story of a detective who possessed by the Grim Reaper to be played by Song Seung Heon, and Ha Ram to be played by Go Ara who can see the shadows of death.

These two struggle to save the lives of people, breaking the rules of heaven. They end up falling in love with each other.

They will be joined by Lee Ei from the popular drama “Goblin” and the talented idol-actor Kim Dong Joon.

The drama will air its first episode on October 14, 2017 taking over “Save Me” time slot.

Initial Impressions

You know me, I am a huge horror fan, to add to that I am also a fan of OCN dramas.

2017 has been OCN year. They’ve been pulling good dramas one after the other, they had a lot of dramas break ratings records. They’re doing great and basically saved 2017 for me.

I’ve enjoyed all the dramas that were occupied by the same timeslot “Black.”

“Black” has such an interesting storyline, the stills look amazing. I can’t believe I am saying this but I have never watched a drama for either Song Seung Heon or Go Ara.

I always thought Go Ara was an idol but turns out she was only an actress. I avoid watching historical kdramas so this might explain why I never watched a drama by either of them.

Go Ara is way younger than Song Seung Heon, and it shows through the stills and the teasers. I am looking forward to see how they will work around their age gap, this might be the drama I am most excited about in this entire list.

 The Package

“The Package” is one highly anticipated kdrama because it features Jung Yong Hwa in his comeback drama since 2014; fans have missed him so much during his absence from kdrama land.

“The Package” tells the story of Yoon So So (played by Lee Yeon Hee) who works as a travel guide in France. She leads a group of tourists on a package tour. The travelers all have their own stories.

San Ma-Roo (played by Jung Yong Hwa) joined the tour after being dumped by his girlfriend. Kim Gyung Jae (played by Choi Woo Sik) has been dating for the past 10 years.

A mysterious man (played by Yoon Park) seems to follow Yoon So-So. Jung Yeon-Sung (played by Ryu Seung Soo) joined the package tour with a partner, but he will not reveal what kind of relationship they are in.

Han So-Ran (played by Ha Shi Eun) is a web designer and agonizes over staying single or marriage. Oh Gab Soo (played by Jeong Gyu Su) is extremely stubborn. Han Book Ja (played by Lee Ji Hyeon) spent most of her life taking care of her husband. Na Hyun (played by Park Yoo Na) is a woman whom other people cannot guess her age.

They all do not want to become involved in each other’s personal lives, but, while they travel together, they become closer and develop relationships.

The drama has started filming in a location in France back in October last year and not much has been heard from this drama, until last month when JTBC confirmed the drama is set to take on the timeslot previously occupied by “Age of Youth 2”.

The first episode will air on October 13, 2017; the drama is 12 episodes long.

Initial Impressions

You know me, I am a huge horror fan, to add to that I am also a fan of OCN dramas.

I won’t lie, I think Jung Yong Hwa is an okay actor. Is he good enough to carry the drama on his own? Nop, he’s not!

My favorite CNBLUE actor has to be Kang Min Hyuk, I have watched all of them acting in dramas, the weakest has to Jung Yong Hwa even thou he started first.

Don’t worry too much if you’re like me concerned about this, he has a great experienced supporting cast. The plot does sound different and interesting, I am curious of what will it be like.

The drama was shot back in 2016, it was left hanging in the air for so long, I almost thought it wasn’t gonna get a release date. Its 100% pre-produced but there had to be a reason why the drama was put on the shelf for so long.

They filmed in France back in October last year..

Avengers Social Club

The upcoming tvN drama is set to take over the timeslot previously occupied by “Criminal Minds,” and is set to air every Wednesday-Thursday at 21:30.

This drama is an adaptation of the webtoon Buam-dong Revenge Social Club which tells the story of three women from very different walks of life who comes together to take revenge.

Kim Jung Hye to be played by Lee Yo Won is the daughter of a family who runs a big company. She appears to be straightforward and arrogant, but she is actually naive and cute. She got married to benefit both their families.

She tries her best as a wife, but later finds out that her husband has betrayed her, so to seek revenge, she leads the “Bok-Ja Club.”

Hong Do Hee to be played by Ra Mi Ran is a woman who sells fish at a traditional market and raises her two kids alone after her husband passed away. She is bright and good natured.

Her son gets involved in a violent incident at school. She joins the “Bok-Ja Club” to seek revenge.

Lee Mi Sook to be played by Myung Se Bin is an orphan and now is married. She has tried hard to lead a happy life and establish a happy family with her university professor husband, but he is violent towards her.

She begins to think about her life after she meets Kim Jung Hye and and Hong Do Hee.

Lee Soo-Gyum to be played by UKISS’s Jun joins the “Bok-Ja Club” to take revenge on his biological parents. His father is Kim Jung-Hye’s husband.

But before he married Kim Jung Hye, he had a fling with a woman who gave birth to him, but he has been neglected by his parents ever since.

Initial Impressions

This drama sounds interesting. Sadly, the drama which aired in its timeslot, “Criminal Minds” was rather disappointing, I couldn’t keep watching.

Ra Mi Ran is an amazing actress, the plot sounds so interesting and its based on a webtoon, which explains why its so different. This could actually be a success for tvN, god knows they need it badly.

So which one of these dramas are you most excited about?

We can’t wait to see them all, but I will be recapping and reviewing “Byun Hyuk’s Love,” “Because Its My First Life,” and “20th Century boy and girl.”
