Coffee prince turns 10 this year- Where are they now?

Coffee prince is considered one of the best Korean dramas of all time, but can you believe it? It has almost been 10 years since coffee prince came out and today I am honouring Coffee prince and looking back at his cast and where they are now.

In my opinion, coffee prince is by far one of the best gender bender kdramas, alongside Han Ji Won performance in secret garden no kdrama actress has been able to convince me she’s a boy as much as Yoon Eun Hye and Ha Ji Won were able to.

Yoon Eun Hye gave one of the best performances of her life and rose to astonishing fame suddenly because of her role in the drama.

The drama also established the hallyu wave outside of Korea, alongside “Sorry I love you”, “sad love story” and many others, Coffee prince was able to garner so much attention from many people around the world.

It shot all of its stars to instant fame, some of them are doing pretty well these days, some others have remained constant, and we have a sad case for one of them, so let’s discuss where they are now.

Yoon Eun Hye

As you guys already know, Yoon Eun Hye has been wrapped up in controversy in 2015.

She had ventured out to the Chinese market, acted in a movie and was dearly loved by the Chinese audience, and even went on to appear on a fashion design competition show and won first place multiple times.

After those wins a Korean fashion designer accused her of plagiarising his coat, saying that the coat she won one of the competitions with was too similar to his design.

After that many more designer came out and spoke up about Yoon Eun Hye plagiarizing their designs as well, which explains why we haven’t heard much of her ever since 2015.

But luckily to all her fans, and back in September 2016, it was announced that Yoon Eun Hye is thinking of making her drama comeback and it is to air in 2017.

A representative from her label said:

“Though it hasn’t been decided whether she’ll make a comeback by the end of the year, we’re thinking she’ll be returning in early 2017. It’s possible she’ll be starring in dramas, movies, and other platforms.”

She has apologized for the whole plagiarizing issue and vowed to work harder.

Her last drama comeback was alongside the handsome Busan guy Yonghwa in Marry him if you dare and honestly saying it was one of the most disappointing dramas I have ever seen in my life.

I can go on and on about everything I hated about this drama and it would take hours, I am a huge Yoon Eun Hye fan and couldn’t have been more disappointed in her last kdrama comeback.

This 2017 I am hoping that Yoon Eun Hye unnie will come back with a good drama and I wish her all the success, hopefully she goes back to her roots and regains her status.

Gong Yoo

Who hasn’t watched Goblin yet? Because if you haven’t, you were either sleeping under a rock or simply very busy.

Goblin was one of the MOST successful 2016 Korean dramas, not only that but one of the MOST successful Korean dramas of all time.

Gong Yoo had an outstanding 2016, he released two VERY successful blockbusters, Train to Busan which is actually being remade into an American movie “yes it was THAT successful” and “the age of shadows” which was also very successful.

He topped his 2016 with the drama Goblin of the writer of Descendant of the suns, and won back the title of Hallyu star, the title he once lost.

His attempts of a successful drama or movie after begin discharged from the military back in 2011 were met with failure, and we thought Gong Yoo was never going to bounce back, but he did.

2016 probably favoured Gong Yoo the most; he had a very busy year and is now resting according to his label.

He is by FAR the most successful Coffee prince cast member to this date.

Lee Sun Kyun

Lee Sun Kyun has been very busy ever since he wrapped up filming coffee prince back in 2007, in 2009 he announced that he is getting married and is now a father of two sons.

His recent works is the drama “My wife is having an affair this week” alongside our favourite Running man member Song Ji Hyo.

The drama was met with lots and lots of praise and love from the Korean and international fans, and did well ratings wise.

Lee Sun Kyun continues to be a busy bee, and has done over 12 movies 6 dramas since 2007, in which he starred as the main lead in almost all of them.

Lee Sun Kyun always has a job, but never the impact of Gong Yoo, his dramas don’t usually score very well in ratings, but he chooses interesting scripts.

Lee Sun Kyun is currently working on his new movie called “Bad Police” and it is to start filming next week on the 15th of March.

Cha Jung Ahn

Cha Jung Ahn also rose to fame after her role in coffee prince, sadly she is not doing as well as you’d expect her to do.

She has starred in a couple of dramas after her performance in coffee prince, many of them were met with poor ratings and were easily forgotten.

Her last drama Entertainer was very poorly received, although it featured Ji Sung “who is having a blast now filming the BIG HIT DRAMA defendant” and Girls day Hyeri.

She starred as the second female lead, but many fans were left disappointed by the drama as a whole. Many kdrama sites labelled Entertainer as one of the worst 2016 Korean dramas, I haven’t thou, because I honestly didn’t watch it.

Probably her most successful drama after coffee prince was Yong Pal, in which she starred as the second female lead opposite the KIM TAE HEE and Joo Won.

Besides Yong Pal, her other dramas didn’t always do so well.

She was never able to cross over into becoming the FIRST female lead and always took the backseat and stuck with the second female lead roles typecast.

I think she is a great actress with lots of potentials, and she is currently preparing for a drama I CANNOT WAIT FOR, its called “man to man” and it marks my Hae Jin oppa comeback.

The drama has already finished filming about 2 days ago, on the 6th of March, and THE Song Joongki is set to make a cameo appearance in it, so you know its gonna be good.

Kim Chang Wan

Kim Chang Wan has always been good, he starred as the gross coffee shop owner in coffee prince, and he is a veteran actor who has continued to capture the public attention with his roles.

He starred in My love from the stars as Kim Soo Hyun friend, and he also starred in the good doctor, Miss Ripley, and the list goes on and on.

He is scheduled to star in Whisper, Lee Bo Young comeback drama, and it is supposed to air in late March, on the 27th to be exact. He is currently busy filming the drama.

Kim Jae Wook.

Omggggg you guys, where do I start and what can I say.

I am so in love with Kim Jae Wook at the moment, he is making his comeback to the silver screen in one of my favourite 2017 crime related kdramas VOICE.

SEE ALSO: 7 reasons you should start watching VOICE right now.

His role is pretty gruesome and amazing, but I don’t want to spoil that for you, since his role in the drama is very crucial.

Kim Jae Wook has always been interesting, at least for me, and I kind of missed him, I missed him sooo much and would always remember him every once and a while.

You ask why? Because last time I saw him was alongside Kim Hyun Joong in Inspiring generation and ever since that drama we kinda disappeared.

He plays a gentleman with hidden agenda, and I loved his character so much.

Sadly he dropped out of the drama and made his last appearance on the 8th episode. This had me both angry and frustrated, I watched the drama and aside from all the controversy surrounding Kim Hyun Joong I enjoyed his performance in it.

I was not happy and shocked this has happened… and guess what, it took him 3 years to decide it was time he shows us his beautiful face again.

Kim Jae Wook has the acting chops and the looks to become a hallyu star, but he never peaked. His most famous role was in Coffee prince perhaps, but to me I prefer him as the amazingly terrifying character he is in the VOICE.

He showed me and everyone how good of an actor he is, and I hope that by the end of VOICE we get to see him venture out to more amazing projects.

With Kim Jae Wook it feels like something went wrong somewhere, I always excepted of him to become very HUGE, but he never did, and after coffee prince I don’t he think he even tried challenging himself, not even one bit.

His most recent movie called “Another way” was only released 2 months ago, and it will shock you to know that he has actually shot that in early 2015, it took them 2 years to finally consider releasing his movie.

Sadly, and as expected the movie is not heard of or seen, I don’t even think anyone tried to promote it.

Kim Jae Wook puzzles me and I would like to see more of him everywhere, the more Kim Jae Wook there is the better.

And last but not least and I had to leave this till the end because it’s sad news.

Lee Eon.

After watching Coffee prince back in 2007, I fell in love with the clumsy masculine barista actor Lee Eon, so I casually went to Wikipedia and checked out his resume.

I was shocked and saddened by what I have seen, sadly Lee Eon passed away on the 21st of August 2008, almost a year after Coffee prince was released.

Lee Eon was driving back to his house on his motor cycle and crashed into guardrail, and almost immediately died.

He was one very amazing actor, and I loved his performance, and I was so saddened by the news I heard.

I won’t forget Lee Eon, he will always remain in my memory and in the memory of all his fans, we will always appreciate and love him and remember him.

He died too young….

With the sad news I wrap up this article, I am glad to see you’ve made it this far and liked what you’ve read “hopefully”. 😉
